Process
Let’s do this!
To start, please set up a meeting with us, our calendar is online Let’s Meet! You may also contact us via text, email or a phone call to answer any questions you may have and see if we might be a good fit for you. During this discussion we will try to narrow down a package that fits your needs.
If you would like a contract, we will send this via email.
To book, we both sign the contract (online) and you pay the 40% retainer to lock your date in. Yea, one less thing to check off your “to do” list!
We want to be a resource to help your planning go smoothly. We can help you create a timeline and steer you to reputable vendors we have experience with.
We can discuss when and where to photograph your engagement photos online or over the phone. If you know where, you can book those in our calender Let’s Meet! or text/email.
You will receive a link to your engagement photo gallery via email within about two weeks of the session.
Two weeks before your wedding, we will send you a questionnaire to get all the details on your timeline, any family photos you want and other details to make sure we are fully prepared for the big day.
One week before to your wedding, the balance of your photography is due, again online, you will get a reminder in your email.
If we have not photographed at your venue before, we will visit the venue to research and plan so we are well prepared.
Wedding day, best day ever!
A few days after your wedding, you will receive an email with a preview that contains a link to your gallery with some of the photos from your wedding.
About two to three weeks after your wedding, you will receive your full wedding gallery to download and share. You are able to purchase prints or canvases online through our professional vendor. You will receive your online slideshow shortly after that. We will make sure you are happy with everything and see if there is anything else you need like an album.
We will send you a USB drive in the mail with your photos and slideshow on it.
We would love it if you would give us a positive review and tell your friends about us!
Please contact us if you would like family photos in the future.
FAQs
Are you dog friendly?
Yes! We love when furry family are part of the festivities. We have two Border Collies that often attend our kickoff meeting if we meet online. We recommend a designated pet handler so you and your family can enjoy your day without worrying about your pet. We have one on our vendor page.
Does it matter if you have worked at our venue?
We have many favorite venues around Colorado but we also love to photograph at new venues. Be assured we will do thorough research prior to your wedding to scope out the best views and create test shots. We will be aware of the sunset time and place and can help you plan around that too.
What awards have you won?
Aside from 5 stars on our Google and Knot profiles from previous clients, Kevin has won awards from the Wedding Photojournalists Association and is ranked in the top 20 photojournalistic style wedding photographers in Colorado.
What if your camera breaks or you lose our photos?
We carry multiple cameras and lenses to every wedding. We use high-end fully insured Canon equipment that we refresh regularly. Like most professional photographers we are camera nerds and love to have the latest and greatest, more is more! We immediately back up all photos in multiple places the night of your wedding so even if our computer crashed, we would not lose your images.
Do you charge travel fees?
We do not charge any travel fees within two hours of Golden, Colorado for weddings. More than two hours distance or for engagement or portrait sessions, there may be fees.
Do you shoot video?
Our skillset is digital and 35mm film photography. We do have videographers we have worked with that we can recommend if this is something you are looking for.
Will we get high resolution files?
Wedding clients may download photos in high resolution included in the wedding package. In the gallery you receive you will see a watermark for copyright but you are buying the copyright when you buy a wedding package so this will not be on the high resolution downloaded image.
Should we buy prints from you or download and print them ourselves?
It’s true the client can download files as part of your package. We ask that any family members purchase downloads they wish to keep. The vendor we partner with for prints is a professional photography business that we calibrate our colors to so you will be getting the highest quality output on the highest quality materials. We can show you examples of canvases, prints and albums in person so you can see for yourself what you are buying and why this is important to enhance the investment you are making with professional photography.
How many weddings do you photograph yearly? Do you do other work?
We want to make sure our clients have our full attention and receive their photos in a timely manner so we do not take on more than 30 weddings per year. While we do have skills in other areas, our primary business is weddings, elopements, engagements and portraits. We are happy to have enough wedding business that this is Kevin’s full time job, we are fully engaged in the wedding industry.
Do you have “associates” that will photograph our wedding, who will be there?
One of the reasons we don’t do more than 30 weddings per year is that this is our business, we do not hire up-and-coming photographers to show up for the most important day of your life. We are a family business and it’s only us.
Do you have experience with elopements?
Yes! We will climb to the top of a mountain, a hidden lake or backcountry snowboarding with you if that is your plan. We also have a couple pair of snowshoes and crampons in case you are coming from out of town and don’t have these in winter. We are familiar with national and local park photography permits and will make sure we have secured them if needed.
What advice do you have? We have never planned a wedding before.
When making a list of the family photos you want, sometimes less is more because you want to be able to get enjoy to your party too. Full shot lists aren’t necessary as we are going to capture everything going on unless you have specific requests. We highly recommend a wedding planner or at least a day-of coordinator to make your wedding run smoothly and allows you to relax and enjoy it more. Recommendations are on our vendor page.
We are awkward in front of a camera, can you pose us?
Since we are photojournalistic photographers we prefer to use a coached approach. We are there to capture your chemistry together. If you are unsure, we can coach you and will be sure to tell you to get your hands out of your pocket or move to a more flattering angle without specific “posing.”
The day is unfolding and we realize we should have the photographers stay longer, can we add hours?
Yes, you may add both of us for $500/hour or just Kevin for $350/hour even the day of the wedding, we are flexible and don’t photograph more than one wedding in a day.
One of our friends wants to learn how to photograph weddings, can they bring their equipment and shoot our wedding alongside you?
We are happy to offer advice to guests in attendance watching us work, however it is difficult enough to capture every special moment as it is happening without worrying about another photographer potentially being in your precious photos. In our contract it states that you will not have any other photographers present and we appreciate you conveying this to any guests who may wish to also be photographers at your event.
Can we not do the engagement photo session and add hours to our wedding?
No the complimentary engagement session is to get to know one another and be relaxed on your wedding day. The photos work great for save the date cards. Depending on the package, we may be able to add film photography, print or album credit in place of the engagement session.
What forms of payment do you accept and when do we pay?
We accept credit/debit card payments, Venmo, checks or cold hard cash. For weddings a 40% retainer is due when you sign your contract, 60% is due the week prior to your wedding. You may set up a payment plan in the software to pay in smaller amounts up until the week before if you would like to do it that way.
Do you have insurance?
Yes, we carry business liability insurance and can provide your wedding venue with a Certificate of Insurance if they need one.
What if we have to move our wedding date or cancel our wedding?
We will work with you as much as possible to accommodate your needs regarding date changes however the 40% retainer is non-refundable.
Can you hold our date for us without the retainer?
If we have a contract out to you and it is not signed and retainer not made, we can’t lock the date in. We will let you know if there is another couple wanting to book your date.
What if one of you is sick or can’t make it to our wedding?
We are members of professional photography organizations and have industry colleagues who are highly rated professional wedding photographers so we would reach out to our network to have a competent replacement in the rare case this was ever needed.
What if we meet then decide not to work with you?
Hey, we hope that you selected another small local photography business, not a photography broker or your uncle who has never photographed a wedding before (it happens!). Please just let us know, no hard feelings.
